Bruce Street Biodiversity Roof
The client expressed a desire for a sustainable building integrating office spaces with a biodiverse green roof in Kensington. They aim to foster a symbiotic relationship between workers and nature, promoting well-being and productivity through immersion in the natural environment, while prioritising sustainability in design and operation.
Form
This 400m² biodiversity green roof in Kensington is connected by seven stories of trees, spanning across each floor of the building. Serving as vital connectors, they facilitate the integration of insects and birds into the roof's diverse ecosystem, bringing biodiversity to unexpected places. The use of a majorly native pallette was used for this project.
About the project
The design is driven by a commitment to enhancing urban biodiversity. By implementing a biodiverse green roof in Kensington, the intent is to create a thriving ecosystem that supports a variety of plant and animal species. This approach aims to contribute positively to urban biodiversity conservation efforts. This project demonstrates the success of City of Melbourne ‘Green Factor Tool’ for developers and builders to create successful urban landscapes that bring benefits for both nature and the client.
